CUMBERLAND —A former Lonaconing resident, the founder of a paranormal investigation team known as The P.I.T. Crew, will contribute to an upcoming NBC television special centering on what are purported to be ghosts caught on videotape.

Stephen Lancaster graduated from Westmar High School in 1995 and attended Allegany College of Maryland before relocating to Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Lancaster and associate Ryan Lick investigate and report on alleged paranormal and crypto zoological activity. The investigations are later aired on an Internet program the duo produce called monsterVisionTV (www.monstervisiontv.com).

monsterVisionTV will be featured on an episode of “Ghosts Caught on Tape” hosted by Maury Povich on NBC-TV, scheduled to air Wednesday on affiliate stations.

NBC Universal producers asked for footage from of a full-body apparition caught with The P.I.T. Crew’s cameras during an eight-night investigation in 2008.

The team’s 2009 investigation and show resume includes such historic sites as the Battleship North Carolina in Wilmington, N.C., and The Hotel Aiken in Aiken, S.C. In addition to the well-known historic locations, the team also investigated numerous residences and even aired a special live presentation of their investigation into the Woods of Prestwood Lake this past July while in search of a mysterious shadow person in Hartsville, S.C.

In August, the team traveled to Belmont, N.C., to investigate and report on the Vision Hosiery Mill, now known as the Haunted Mill. Their investigation further validated the alleged haunting of the mill.

On Tuesday, The P.I.T. Crew and monsterVisionTV will be sponsor the inaugural Batty Battleship Halloween Bash at the Battleship North Carolina. Planners estimate that 1,500 to 2,000 people will attend the event, which begins at 5:30 p.m.

With an Internet presence of only nine months under its belt, monsterVisionTV has landed more than 300,000 hits and 10,000 fans on youTube alone, with such awards as Most Viewed in Education becoming the norm for its video releases.

Recently, six billboards spanning from Charlotte, N.C., to Atlanta, Ga., featuring monsterVisionTV went up courtesy of the Haunted Mill establishment to show their support and appreciation for monsterVisionTV.
